Locker Bursting into Flames features a locker (burnt) and a video playing on a loop on a cathode ray tube TV.
The piece began with a fire performance, produced in a closed environment inside the locker. The fire took place without any direct witnesses, but a camera was placed inside to record the images. The video gradually slows down, freezing completely when the camera finally melts in the flames.
The installation explores the question of point of view: the performance is not captured by the direct gaze of a human being, which is replaced by the intermediary gaze of the camera.
The medium induces a margin of ambiguity, where the narrative is no longer based on a tangible experience of reality but on its transcription.
